Hi, all. This will be our 4th Las Vegas Meet, which is geared towards INDIECLUB and THE SANCTUARY members - that's right, you!

WHEN?

Fri - Sun, May 23rd - 25th (Memorial Day weekend)

WHAT IS IT?

Combine a chef (my wife)and my mother-in-law's pool with a group of filmmakers and you have a combination indie film festival/instructional demos/swimming/buffet with a fire. :>) We host it at our house, which has a big backyard to project movies in.

COST:

If you could make a donation, it would really help us out (about $25 for all 3 days). This would help cover Friday night Hors D' Oeuvres, Saturday pizza and Sunday barbecue, along with all the popcorn, homemade cookies and soda you want!

Typically, we stay up late, so bring your fave indie short and screen it.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

FRIDAY

6pm - Hors D' Oeuvres, meet and greet.

8:30pm - Feature length movie, NIGHTCAST - directed by Marco von Moos

Trailer - http://www.nightcast.net/site-html/e/trailer.html

10:15pm - Short movies.

SATURDAY

2 to 8pm - Demos/presentations and pizza.

8:15pm - Feature length movie - EXILE - directed by Mike Conway

Trailer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhLLffi7G7Y

10PM - Feature length movie - RECON 2022: THE MEZZO INCIDENT - directed by Christian Viel

Trailer - http://www.recon2022-movie.com/media_sub.php?type=trailers

Midnight - More shorts.

SUNDAY

Matinee, (time TBD - between noon and 2pm) INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL.

5pm - Pool/Barbecue party at Sheila's mom's house.

10pm - Fire and marshmallows at Mike/Sheila's house.

INSTRUCTIONAL PRESENTATIONS

We need Saturday Presenters and demos! Subjects can be anything having to do with movies, video, performance and stage. Some examples, but not limited to:

show new equipment,
make blood,
make squibs,
a makeup effect,
light a scene,
record audio,
score music,
handle greenscreen,
camera technique,
handle blank/airsoft weapons,
block a fight or stunt,
achieve certain editing techniques,
write for movies,
avoid law & copyright issues,
perform a special talent,
personal experience to share

You can even show your reel, DVD or tape. As long as we learn something from it, the floor is open. Try to keep it under 20 minutes. You can do more than one demo.

LODGING

As in the past, we have some bed space for first requests. If you bring a sleeping bag, you are welcome to any floorspace.

Nearest Hotels:

Santa Fe, Texas and Fiesta, all on Rancho Drive. (All within 4 to 5 miles.)

Cannery Hotel and Casino (7 miles).

LAST TIME

We skipped 2007, but here was the last Meet:

Damn 2006 was the last one. Well as always I soooo wish I could go. But it always lands on my kids opening swim meet so I'll be there in spirit. Need to start a video conference for those of us far away Wink

Opening swim meet always starts on Memorial Day weekend? The same weekend that INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL opens? (Our Sunday matinee, btw.) Heck, I would pull those kids out of sports, for that. Very Happy

Come on Conway I know you know better than that..especially with kids and a filmmaker. You know they will have a special midnight showing Thursday night which I will catch and then still get enough rest Friday to be ready for the swim meet on Saturday and Sunday. Trust me I go into these things well prepared lol

AGREED!

Very cool Mike... I've been waiting for this... got it marked on the calendar... now to talk the other half into spending more time at the Conway Commune and not in the casinos...

... and dang, I forgot I was on that 2006 poster... oh well, with the mullet gone no one will recognize me Wink

That's okay - I'll make a new picture! Seriously, I haven't had the chance to talk to you, in a while. I'm looking forward to your company. After all, you instigated the formation of this... Very Happy

Are you working on a new short?

Gonna take this year off from making anything, unless I get a wild hair. Giving LW my time for Hunting Ground... also co-writing (with Western Flame) a full feature western (serious movie) that we will shoot after HG is done... and learning how to use the HVX200 to it's full potential.

Excellent, I like the genre. The HVX looks good, regardless, but a large amount of daylight photography does wonders for the look of video.

Thank you Mike and Sheila for organizing another IndieMeet!

Count me in... just have to figure out how to lure my husband there (he doesn't like LV)...

Or... maybe he can go do something more fun (like a 100 mile bicycle race) and I'll kidnap Stephanie for the weekend...

But... one way or another, I'm planning on being there. Very Happy

I think I just might be able to make it this year.

I'm gonna take a look at my schedule and see where I can take some PTO.

Excellent, Bee and Mario! Bee, show your husband the INDIEMEET VIDEO or some of the picture threads. Though it's in Vegas, there isn't a lot of emphasis on "Vegas."

2006 PICS

2005 PICS

On a side note, I just talked to Greg Parker. There's a good chance that he can make it here, from Roswell.

Bee, if Stephanie's going, you can have her drive... be in Vegas in an hour... even with 3 tickets.
... and Parker likes the t0iletphish style cookies... just so you know.

Very cool Mario! Hope to see you there Cool

Cool on Parker... hope to see him too.
