Ok...
I'm a big "Feast" freak since the end of the Project Greenlight series that spawned it.

So along comes the inevitable afterbirth...
the sequel...
but I looked over the box and it had the same writer/director and I'm thinking, "Ok, he did a good job with the first one right?", well...right.

But here we go...
part II starts almost exactly where part one left us...
and without ruining it for those of you who may have already bought this direct to DVD gem, I'll try to lay it down for you.

"Dead Alive" meets "Feast" meets "Oh we must've ran outta money, time, or imagination"

This flick went from a great kickoff to a "Dead Alive" spinoff (just not as good, I still like "Dead Alive" so some weird twisted reason) in zero point zero seconds flat and only got worse and worse as it went along.

The last half hour I finally reached the point where I just went with it as a complete comedy and couldn't stop laughing...
what was I laughing at you might ask?

Get ready because this is one sick list of dark humor (kiddies, log off now).

A attempted monster rape...
a monster raping a house cat (there I said it)...
the reused of two midgets for monsters, who were also cast as main characters (midget wrestlers for that matter)...
the tossing of an infant into the air, only to splat into the pavement, as bait to save a would be hero...
a midget catapult that doesn't quite make it across the street between two 2-story buildings...
Oh...I could go on and on and on, since this flick is just loaded with this stuff.

The only reason I could imagine it all made the final take would be to take your mind of the loss of control of the story half way through. It was like they just started making stuff up since the story got lost so quickly

The fx went the same route as the story...
starting out great, they made the point of keeping the beasts off cam as much as possible and/or using action blur shots whenever possible...
then came the full body, "I'm a fat guy in a Power Rangers monster suit" shots...over and over again they came.

The gore, action fx, etc all went down this same path right up to a stick of dynamite exploding that didn't quite explode the garbage can it was tossed under.

Acting...same formula...starting out good then whining down to 80's quick one liners like, "That ain't helping...baby killer!", which was funny if you got the joke or thought it was a joke.

Ok...my final thoughts...and this is going to sound twisted as hell...

I'd watch it again, and probably will.
Only this time, I'll go in with the "Dead Alive", "I'm going to see a dark horror comedy" mindset instead of expecting something that should've been written to follow "Feast". I'm 110% sure I'm going to like it that way.

If you liked "Dead Alive"...then "Feast II" is right up your alley.
If you didn't...this'll just leave you wishing you could take a shower to wash the memory away.

But that's just my two cents,
I'll let you decide.

Hang in there,

LW

Maybe, it's because I have a 2 year old, but the baby death scene really bothered me. A man was trying to save it, but when the creatures started going after him, he threw the cute kid in the air and the kid hit the ground, bloody. Then, the monsters start biting him and they actually show his little arm and guts lying there.

The story started out okay, but then just fell off the map and became nonexistent. For me the highlight was when the people start an autopsy on one of the creatures and it kept releasing gas and squirting sperm into everyone's face! It was so over the top, I just started laughing. Yeah, the cat rape, too.

I am a huge fan of DEAD ALIVE, but I found the Peter Jackson movie to have much more motivation and comedy, than FEAST 2. There is a zombie baby involved, but you never associate it with the real thing, which is a big difference for me.

SEED and AUTOMATION TRANSFUSION also have graphic infant death scenes, so avoid them if that gets to you. I'll give FEAST 2 some props for over the top humor, but overall it wasn't my thing.

It didn't help the 'baby scene' any to keep showing him/her floating through the air like a toilet paper commercial either...looked like they were trying to bring humor to it...it didn't work.

Yeah, agreed though that Jackson's film was aiming towards humor from the get go, "HE'S...HE'S GOT...THE BITE!!!"...I was laughing from that point on.

This one appears to have fell short during production, not unlike "Evil Dead", and so they decided to aim at humor from that point...aiming doesn't always getcha there though.

We did manage to send some of my in-laws home with a story to tell. LOL.

I saw this at the video store and i'm glad I know what i'm going in for before I rent it. I totally dug the first one and never took it that seriously but I think I might enjoy this one. I think with these kinds of low budget movies you have to just "enjoy" it... good/bad and everything in between. Baby exploding, maybe a bit too much but cat rape scene could be funny... the monsters are just sex addicts in the first one anyway. Laughing

Sounds like I should go ahead and add this to my netflix queue. baby/kid violence bugs me too. Even the baby zombie scene from Dawn of the Dead bugged me.

If you like the campy stuff, it's worth seeing.

I'd have to get into a funner mindset and maybe throw a few back before my next viewing though.

I dig campy as much as the next film fiend but I do draw the line on over the top sex scenes and other (IMO) inappropriate scenes.

I'm not going to knock other film makers for doing what they want because most of them have found their niche and that's fine. I just prefer to go in the other less popular direction. Wink
