Hello fellow filmmakers, I'm new and was recommended to joing the Sanctuary by the great and powerful Mike Conway. We both attended the University of Arizona years ago, and found out much later!
Anyway, I have a new short I'd like to post:

Unless there another way or place to put our videos on this forum, there you have it. Its 16 minutes, shot in Connecticut. Hope you enjoy! _________________ www.timeaxismedia.com |

Welcome aboard...
any friend of Conway's...
the board's been a little slow lately but it'll pick up.
Can't wait to see your flick.
Hang in there,

Definitely check it out, LW. There are even some similarities to the HOME project that you worked on. I'll bet Clarke would like your Lightwave work, or even having an FX program.......Which reminds me - how did you do the effects in THE ETHEREAL PLANE? All this time, I thought you had After Effects or something. _________________ terrariumthemovie.com |

Hey Mike. Sorry, same as Shutting Down: Just Premier and Photoshop for Ethereal FX.
Where can I see "Home"? Love to see it. _________________ www.timeaxismedia.com |

"Home" has a thread in here somewhere...
just have time to review "Shutting Down" right now or I'd link ya.
"Shutting Down"...
wow, not what I was expecting but this takes me back to when Twilight Zone used to do it right.
It was creepy, well written, the acting was pretty good, everything was moving right for me until the ufos...but those are easily forgiven with something this well done.
Great job, can't wait to see more from you. _________________ There is no reason why good cannot triumph as often as evil. The triumph of anything is a matter of organization. If there are such things as angels, I hope that they are organized along the lines of the Mafia.

Hey Clarke, nice job on that film. I thought it was well paced and you did a good job building suspense at the appropriate times. I thought it was creepy each time someone would just start repeating themselves in the middle of a conversation. Speaking of which, I also like how you bring the "creepy" factor in waves - gives you time to settle down from the first one so that the next one is just as effective again.
The UFO's were the only part that kind of shook the immersion a bit for me, but I agree with LW - that's easily forgivable when everything else worked so well. Speaking of effects, I thought the 3-D television was done quite well, I liked it. _________________

Yeah, forgot to mention that the 3d television effect went off without a hitch. Was nice to have something that big not take you out of your suspension of disbelief...didn't interupt a thing.
Now I've watched it several times and you know what else I like...
I like that I figured out where this was going but the pacing had me second guessing myself over and over again. Nice. Love that.
And although it doesn't appear creepy...creepy is the word that best describes the feeling this gave off up until the ufos.
You had us almost claustrophobic in the house...feeling trapped with these things...nice, but I can't seem to unravel what it was exactly that kept me guessing on the ending.
Damn good storytelling?
Best I can figure.
Hang in there,

Some great comments from you guys, thanks. As many comments about the UFOs I've gotten, I'll be sure to improve my FX next time. But glad they didn't detract from the story too much.
I have another little gem from my college yeas online if anyone wants to check out a TERMINATOR/REANIMATOR/ALIEN homage and if you have 26 minutes to spare. I was never very happy with this one but much happier now with digital editing, etc. I learned the importance of mood and set design, of which this has none, and not great acting either. But a cool and hopefully suspenseful short anyway.

You should start a new thread for this one.
I'll be more than happy to check it out when I get home.
26 mins will definitely red flag me here at work. LOL.
And hey, remember the fx guys next time.
Some of us aren't making entire movies and just want in on other's projects.
Sometimes we're really busy but hey...
sometimes we're not and are just laying in wait.
Hang in there,

I love this movie. Clarke, now that you're in San Diego, you should bring this movie to the May 28th - 30th 2010 IndieMeet. It would make a good double-bill with HOME. _________________ terrariumthemovie.com |

Loved the concept. Very good quality and editing. The phone video and TV effects were great. The acting and pacing...needs work. Didn't I see that video somewhere else not that long ago? Not that long ago? Not that long ago?
