Xena,
See how she is? LOL.
Tells us that we don't talk...
then teases us with this informative tidbit...
then...
silence.
Uh huh.
She's lurking round the pond just laughing at us whilst we make the bobber bounce.
I'm just saying. LOL. _________________ There is no reason why good cannot triumph as often as evil. The triumph of anything is a matter of organization. If there are such things as angels, I hope that they are organized along the lines of the Mafia.

LOL!!!
Actually, it was a pretty cool weekend and shooting in the cave was an amazing experience, but we didn't get home until late thirty on Sunday night and everybody was pretty wiped out. I wanted to write about it last night, but needed to catch up on some sleep. Hopefully tonight I'll have the energy and brain cells to tell you about it.
Stay tuned... no teasing intended... _________________ Kind words are like honey--sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. Proverbs 16:24 |

Oooh kay... here's the scoop...
We left mid-day on Friday with two full trucks (one of then pulling a big trailer), a van, and an SUV full of McClure’s. All together there were 6 adults, 8 kids, 2 dogs, and a tarantula. The trip was about 3-1/3 hours long. When we were almost to the place we were staying for the weekend, the brakes on the truck with the trailer overheated and smoke began pouring out so we had to stop. This happened on a windy mountain road, but fortunately we were at a level place when we pulled over. There wasn't anything we could do about it right then, so after they cooled off we crept on down the road to our destination.
We stayed in a cool old cabin built in the 1880’s at Adam’s grandpa’s ranch… 157 beautiful acres with pine trees and two big ponds… the kids went wild. Sorry I don’t have any pictures right now… I brought my camera but forgot the chip… duh. But one of the kids took lots of pics and if I get copies of them I’ll post some later on.
We spent Friday night unloading, having dinner, strumming guitars (Adam and Richard are both very good), reading stories and figuring out where everybody would sleep. I got to sleep in the only bedroom with one of the other ladies and a kid, plus 3 on an air bed, 2 on a little sofa, and 1 more on the floor... 7 kids and 2 adults in the room... it was fun!!!
On Saturday we were late getting to the cave because of one thing and another... (organizational craziness and car sick kids)... then we had to get everything setup. The hardest part was walking up and down the path to the cave with all of the equipment... it was REALLY steep! After getting to the entrance, we had to haul everything (including a treasure chest) through a 750’ tunnel to the River Room at the back of the main shaft where we spent most of our time. The path was twisty, tight, and low… several of the crew and a couple of the kids banged their heads… no fun there.
So we start to set up and are told that there aren’t any electrical outlets to hook up to. This was not what we were told before. But we were prepared... we had some powerful battery operated lights. Trouble was, one of 'em went out after about 10 minutes. So we used the other one and about a dozen LED light bars the staff managed to round up, plus all of our personal flashlights, lol. The footage we got that day might be a little on the dark side but hopefully we'll be able to use some of it. That night after dinner we had a fire outside and the kids made so’ mores and we all went to bed early vowing to get an early start on Sunday.
Sunday dawned and we stuck to our guns. When we got to the cave, our helper Nick (who was GREAT) said he had given it some thought and remembered that there might actually be an outlet in the River Room... he was right, and it worked... Thank God! I think we got some really good footage that day… the setup looked great with the pirate skeleton and that treasure chest just heaped to overflowing with treasures. There wasn't time to get extra shots of some of the other really cool scenery that we would have liked, but overall it was a fantastic experience… very fun and educational for all of us.
On Sunday evening we left late cause we had to fix that brake problem. Turned out to be a blown fuse in the box that controlled the brakes on the trailer. Worked like a charm after replacing it, but it was around midnight when we got home.
The kids want to go back sometime and do the tour called "Pirates Cave" which includes wearing a life vest, floating down the river through white water, and then going into a wild cave.
Here is a link to Boyden Cavern... there are some pretty good pictures in here: http://www.caverntours.com/BoydenRt.htm _________________ Kind words are like honey--sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. Proverbs 16:24 |

Ah, I thought you guys were hitting the caves over in my area.
Nice place though, the site's got quite a few killer pics.
As for the rest...
as Rosanna Rosanna Danna used to say...

Boyden Cavern was much closer so we went that route... otherwise we'd have been bugging the tarnation out of you to come over and join us.
We're still hoping to get by Hobb's Grove soon... just didn't have time to do it on Sunday like we'd planned. If we can work something out, we'd like to shoot there on 11/7 or 11/14. You wanna go? The spiders have probably gotten bigger and more deadly, and the wild things wilder. _________________ Kind words are like honey--sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. Proverbs 16:24 |
