Bad girl.

After the last 3 or 4 projects I worked on,
I promised myself not to promise anything until it's all in hand
or at least a full plan had been presented.

Painful learning curve.

Everyone thinks they understand but until you've been one of the
last beads on the string... struggling through post... with a director
on you who firmly believes they got everything perfect...
well... you don't understand.

The workload can often double or even quadruple for the post folks.

I especially feel for the sound techs. Damn but they have to just make
it all up sometimes.

Pirates ain't perfect and they don't ask for promises.
... and this lot will be thankful for whatever they get.
Little pirates just want to have a little fun... Arrrrrr! Wink

So far this weekend we've made it though about 1/4 of what we had planned. So we're probably looking at a couple more Saturdays at least. It's a lot more work to coax character dialog out of kids when plunking them in front of a greenscreen with lights in their eyes and all they have to go on is their out of context lines.

Ok...
I've worked with kids and animals now so here goes...

You cannot...cannot...expect them to give you what you want based on cues.

If they are talking to someone...put that person just off screen enough.

If they are reacting to a big monster...get a stick, put a monster head on it and play it's part just off screen. Even a cheap drawing on a stick works.

If they are happy... make them happy.

If they are sad... get the set quiet and talk about sad things.

If they are hungry... eat in front of the little buggers.

What I'm saying is that you'll have to get the natural reactions based on something that's real to them. Hey, even most adults have trouble acting with the green screen and a little talk before the shot.

Work it.

And hang in there.

The movie is officially in the can! Can I get an Amen?

We shot the last scene yesterday afternoon/evening. It was a campfire camping scene set in a meadow strewn with wildflowers and oak trees. We roasted hotdogs and marshmallows... it was nice.

We did our best with the green screen stuff, LW. Very Happy

I can't wait to see it and hear it either, especially after you do your thing.
Richard will be the one putting it together.
Then LW will sprinkle his CGI magic in the mix.
My part is over, so I'll be waiting patiently for all of you to finish.
(drumming fingers, tapping foot, looking at the calendar, holding back sighs) Wink

LOL, so much for 'waiting patiently' huh? LOL.

I'm going to be interrupting his editing this weekend...
of this I am 90% certain. Razz
